Call for Papers and Editorial Policies

The Translation Journal accepts and welcomes contributions of articles and other suitable material for future issues.

The primary aims of the TJ are to:

  1. To provide a platform for translators, interpreters and friends of the industry to share their expertise and research in this field.
  2. To build a vibrant research community of scholars and thought leaders in the field of translation and interpreting.

The staff at TJ encourages worldwide participation and invites authors from different backgrounds, beliefs, cultures and languages to contribute. Preferences are given to articles that are original and unpublished. Most articles are original. For previously published work, the author must adhere to any copyright conditions imposed on the original article and be transparent in disclosing where the article was previously published.

TJ publishes different types of journal articles include original research papers, opinion papers, article reviews, interviews and features. The author of the article agrees that the work he/she is submitting does not infringe upon any copyright or intellectual property laws and that all appropriate ethical standards were followed. The article must be written well, suitable and appropriate for publication.

Topic areas particularly of interest include:

  • Articles about translation and translator-related issues;
  • Articles about specific translation problems and approaches in different fields;
  • Glossaries in any subject in any major language pair; glossaries that are too large for a web page will be made available for download;
  • Dictionary reviews;
  • Software, hardware and CAT Tools reviews.
  • Annotated translations;
  • Articles about culture, values, and real life situations and issues;
  • How to use and access the latest tools for translators
  • Legal and regulatory issues faced by translators;
  • Implementing new technologies;
  • Translation as a business and best practices;
  • Translators’ activities worldwide;
  • New developments and emerging technologies in the industry
  • etc., etc., etc.

To submit your article please click here and provide details. We request your contact information, including social media details because we promote your article when published (unless advised).

To get the spotlight you deserve, accepted articles will receive the following:

  • We post your article in the next available appropriate space in the TJ. This may be as soon as the following month or could be in future issues. We work on a first in basis.
  • We also publish your article in the “Featured Article Section” on the home page of the TJ website.
  • We also promote via social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook ScoopIt etc. To sign up to our social media feeds see the home page of the Translation Journal for links.
  • We highlight articles in the TJ email newsletter. Click here to join the email newsletter.
  • You will receive a certificate that includes a ISSN (see below).

Submitted articles must be accompanied by:

  • the author's (or authors') short biography and photo in JPEG format. Articles in any major European language are welcome; we may provide English translations or abstracts in English, at our option, of articles submitted in languages other than English.
  • Authors are expected to check their work before submitting it for publication. Careless formatting, typographical and grammatical errors, and sloppy style may be reasons for an article to be rejected.
  • Experience shows that 15 pages is about the upper limit for an article to be read on-line. Articles exceeding this limit or 40K in size may be split up into portions to be published in the same or the next issue of the
  • We also welcome your contributions to the Letters to the Editor, Web Surfing for Fun and Profit, Translators’ Resources, and Translators’ Tools sections of this Journal.

About This Publication

The Translation Journal is an on-line publication and access is free of charge, not subject to registration, and no personal information needs to be provided or is captured for access. The Translation Journal is available on-line only. Hard copy editions are not available, however maybe in the future. Readers may print out articles for personal use or free distribution. No commercial use is allowed. Like major printed periodicals, the Translation Journal has been awarded an International Standard Serial Number, which uniquely identifies it: ISSN 1536-7207. Reference may be made to this number for purposes of academic credit and other legal purposes.

Copyright Policy

By submitting a paper to the TJ, the authors represent that their text and any illustrations thereto comply with national and international copyright laws. The authors release and hold the Translation Journal harmless from any claims or liabilities under such laws. The authors also represent that the articles submitted are original and unpublished, unless specifically stated otherwise.

As stated on each page of the TJ, the copyright of each article belongs jointly to the Translation Journal and the author(s). Permission is hereby granted by the Journal's Editor for any article published herein to be reproduced in full or in part for any non-commercial purpose, subject to the consent of the Author(s), as long as the Translation Journal with its URL (http://translationjournal.net) is clearly indicated as the original source and a link is established to this URL.

Authors may republish any article originally published in the Translation Journal after a period of 60 days following the first day of the respective issue's month of publication. Authors are requested, however, to make reference to the Translation Journal as the original publication.
