Our current issue of the Translation Journal features the article "Five Diversification Strategies for Freelance Translators" by Nicole Y. Adams.

Many translators and interpreters get so wrapped up in their day-to-day work that they forget to market themselves! But the fact is that the most successful people in this industry tend to be those who present themselves to the right people - in the right way. This process does not have to be difficult if your marketing reflects a true extension of who you are.

Translators and interpreters all need tools to help us in our everyday lives, and the tool I'd like to mention this week is Evernote.  I use Evernote everyday!

Evernote, which has been dubbed a "digital filing cabinet," is a brilliant tool for translators and interpreters who need to save and retrieve heaps of information. The primary reason I use Evernote is for its ability to store all kinds of information for later use. I am always finding things on the web that I think I may need someday, such as articles, videos, and photos. In the past, I usually saved these items to a Word document, but trying to find what I'd saved later was always a nightmare.

Evernote can help you find your stored information easily. With Evernote, I can easily search all of my notes using various search parameters such as date of creation, type of media, and tags. In addition, Evernote has a fantastic OCR feature that allows you to search for text within images.
