Australians with disabilities and a multicultural background can now benefit from an innovative new interpreter support service, available through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Translationz, a leading Australian company in translation and interpreter services, is now a Registered Interpreting Service Provider under the NDIS, providing support for people with disabilities who need the assistance of foreign language translators.
Offering their services in more than 100 languages, Translationz is currently operating NDIS services in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and Australian Capital Territory.
Translationz CEO Karen Hodgson says that the company's interpreters are skilled and accredited professionals and have a track record of acting in the best interest of multicultural clients.
"Our interpreters have a keen understanding of the client's cultural background. We help facilitate communication between the NDIS participant and their plan managers as well as with their doctors, physical therapist and legal professionals. Interpreters play an important role in enabling direct dialogue between providers and NDIS participants who are not fluent in the English language.," Ms Hodgson said.
"We understand that our clients are generally dealing with sensitive or difficult issues, so our interpreters aim to be compassionate and supportive while enabling effective communication which is vital in medical and legal consultations."
Services can be provided face-to-face, over the phone or through a video service, depending on the client's requirements.
Ms Hodgson says that the services provided by Translationz include working accompany participants to legal and medical appointments as well as working with NDIS Plan Managers to help facilitate the communication between the participant and plan coordinators.
"It is essential the participant can attend medical appointments and be able to communicate their desired needs and wishes," Ms Hodgson said.
