Japanese expansion for international language communications business

Larry Gould CEO of thebigwordGlobal technology-driven language communications provider, thebigword, has expanded its Tokyo office following growth in Japan and Asia.

thebigword, which is headquartered in Leeds, England, is a leading technology-driven language communications company which delivers translation and interpreting solutions across the globe through purpose built technology systems. Its Tokyo office has been open for eight years and thebigword has purchased new premises to accommodate its growing team.

The international firm has a strong relationship with many technology companies, banks and business consulting organisations in Asia, helping them to effectively communicate with customers across the world. Its biggest market in the region is the automotive industry.

Larry Gould, CEO of thebigword, said: "Japan is an exciting place to work, it's the world's third largest economy and our technology and language expertise connects Japanese businesses and organisations with global markets.

"Japanese customers demand the highest standard of work and their expectations ensure thebigword delivers the highest quality. Japanese customers are also very loyal, we're proud to have worked in this region for the past 25 years and look forward to further expansion in this market.

"thebigword is currently the twelfth largest provider of translation and interpretation services in the world. Our plan is to move into the top five with a turnover of £300 million by the end of 2019. Japan and Asia are going to play an important role in this growth. We're also on the acquisition trail and will be looking at businesses in the region which would make strategic sense to buy."

"Our new office in Tokyo will be a business hub where clients and language experts can gather. We're planning to use the new space to host regular events where we can share best practice and demonstrate our responsive and secure translation and interpretation technology.

"The office expansion in Tokyo combined with technology innovation and the introduction of thebigword Translation Management System (TMS) platform, which is the most advanced and secure system on the market, sets us on the right track for growth in Japan and Asia."

thebigword works with clients across a range of sectors, including banking, defence, travel and leisure, manufacturing, retail and eCommerce, private healthcare and the public sector.

The new Japanese office is located at the Hamamatsucho General Building 2F, Minato-ku in Tokyo.
